Obama Wins Presidency and a Place in History

Obama Wins Presidency and a Place in History

A Part of History

Yesterday many say a new chapter in our nation’s history began with the momentous, presidential election of 2008. The final stretch for both, John McCain and Barack Obama seemed intense right up until the eleventh hour announcement that Barack Obama had become the forty-fourth president of the United States of America. Like many voters caught up in excitement and anxiety I wondered, can a historical presidential race lead a nation of people to a new light and a changed government?

The ground breaking, emotion-filled presidential run was due to religion, age, gender and experience. The race kept us all on our toes and the candidates nipping at each other’s heels. No other time in my experience as a voter has the involvement of government and politics become a necessity. Like many, my life is filled with concerns over the condition of the nation’s sinking economy. The same issue that rises at the forefront of our woes coincidentally played a large roll in the win for President Obama. A man who has shouted much about “change” since he hit the campaign trail will now be faced with the opportunity to show and prove.

There has been much said about what can not be done in a first term that hints there will be a second although a bit permute at this moment. I’m trying not to be fooled by smokeless mirrors and great speeches and influenced more by action. Yes, this historical win will go down in the history books but I’m pressed to believe that when policies and government propaganda receive a complete overhaul to include all of our nation’s people and not just a chosen few then I too will be more joyous in my chant; yes we can!

Congratulations President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden.
